Covid-19 Response

Dear Parents and children,

We hope you are enjoying your summer holidays.

At Start Right we are busy making plans to welcome you back and to welcome our new starters in September. We are looking forward to seeing you all and are now writing to let you know our procedures and to give you an idea of how everything will work in September.

Induction Week

The first week back, from Tuesday to Friday, will be our "Induction Week". All children will be allocated a key worker and a specific entrance to come in and out of when they are dropped off and collected. We will let you know your entrance and your allocated key worker nearer the time. We should be grateful if you could ensure that only one adult drops off/collects their child to keep visitors to a minimum. Please note that we are not able to allow any adults inside our setting but that there will be plenty of time to chat with your key worker at the start of each session during the induction week to discuss any issues or concerns you may have. New parents will also be welcome to stand by their child's entrance and watch them settling in to Start Right.

Once children have arrived in their groups, they will remain in that group with the same children for the rest of the morning. They may move around the setting to other rooms, but the children in the group will remain the same. Any time the children move to a new room, they will wash or sanitise their hands. Staff will do the same. Start Right will be thoroughly cleaned at the end of each morning session and there will be a deep clean at the end of each day. In the afternoons, the groups of children may join together in the outside environment for Forest School but they will separate back into their separate groups when they come back into the house.

Things to bring with you to each session

All children will have a named bucket and a named red bag for belongings which only they will use at Start Right. For each session, please make sure you bring the following:

• Named wellington boots

• Named indoor shoes (slippers are fine)

• Named waterproofs - these can be either a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers or an all-in-one waterproof. Please note that your child may get muddy and wet and so please ensure that the waterproofs are robust and are suitable for wet and muddy play

• Named warm fleece as an extra layer for warmth

• A small show and tell item which your child can show to their key worker when they arrive. This will then be put safely back into your child's red bag to make sure it does not get lost. These items need to be taken home at the end of every session.

If you or your child is feeling unwell

We are asking all parents to be extra vigilant about their health and their children's health from September onward. If your child is showing any symptoms of Coronavirus, please keep them at home and organised for them to have a test. If any member of your household is showing symptoms, we would ask that you follow the Government guidance of isolating the entire household for 14 days and organise a test. If your child shows any symptoms of Coronavirus whilst at Start Right, they will be isolated with a member of staff wearing PPE and we will call you to come and collect them as soon as possible. With this in mind, please make sure that you are fully contactable at all times whilst your child is at Start Right in case we need to contact you. If you have recently changed your mobile number, please let us know.

The whole Start Right team are looking forward to getting back to pre-school in September and if you have any queries, please do let us know and we will do our best to answer these. Helen will be monitoring the emails throughout the summer holidays. We are keen to work with you as much as possible and to make your child's transition to Start Right as happy and positive as it can be.

With kind regards.

Caryll, Peter and the Start Right Team                                                                                                                                        August 2020
